Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal dropped on Netflix on 15 May and we’re intrigued.
For the uninitiated, Ashley Madison was a “married dating site” launched by Canadian businessman Darren Morgenstern in 2001. With the tagline “Life is short. Have an affair”, the site was essentially a dating and relationship service for married people looking to cheat.
In July 2015, however, the website was hacked and a list of Ashley Madison users was ultimately released to the world, breaking up countless marriages and relationships along the way.
The breach exposed the personal information of approximately 37 million users, with information leaked including email addresses, photos, credit card details and even sexual preferences.
Among the names on the Ashely Madison list was Sam Rader, a YouTuber who the new Netflix docuseries features.

The new three-part Netflix series features YouTube couple Sam and Nia Rader.
Childhood sweethearts, the pair got married when they were just 24 and 20, with them going on to have four children together.
The pair blew up on YouTube after a video of them lip-syncing to Frozen went viral in 2014, with this inspiring them to set up a parenting vlog centred on their home life.
However, after Sam’s details were exposed in the Ashely Madison hack, the pair’s relationship was brought into question.
What was the Ashley Madison hack?
Hackers who identified themselves as The Impact Team confirmed an attack on Ashley Madison in July 2015, threatening to expose the identities of site users unless its parent company ALM shut down the website.
In response, Ashley Madison released a statement saying that it had secured the site, though two days later the details of two Ashley Madison users were leaked.
