It saw one half of the Britain’s Got Talent judging panel – this being Simon, 64, and Bruno, 68 – arrive at the venue in secret, concealed in a red box.

They just happened to pop in at the vocal group’s end of term party, into a space filled with excited kids, brightly-coloured balloons and tables crammed with party food.

A silent disco was taking place with many earphone-clad youngsters showing off their dancing skills.

The group’s choir director, Rachel, had nominated them for a place on the show and was quick to give the TV duo a briefing.

After their box was wheeled in, she gave a countdown from five before Bruno burst open the door to a host of cheers.

The duo rushed to give the excited children high fives before one adorable little girl asked him: “Are you the real Simon Cowell?”

Simon lifted his signature sunglasses to prove he was – sparking another wave of shouts and screams.

Bruno could then be heard telling a child: “Oh it’s the best day of your life?

“It’s the best day of my life too my darling!”

Simon then congratulated the bunch for being a “fantastic” group of singers before he said: “And oh yeah there’s one thing I forgot to mention.

“You’re all going to be on BGT with us – and we are doing it now!”

The group – made up of kids aged seven to 12 – then appeared on the live stage and performed original track, Be Who You Want To Be.

They received a standing ovation from the four judges and the live audience too.

Simon gave the final verdict and said: “Let me think about this for a moment, it’s four yeses,” before the group went wild.

Earlier in the segment, he had asked choir director Rachel: “Why did you nominate them fort this special surprise?”

She replied: “Because they are amazing.

“We are an art organisation and charity, we work with thousands of kids supporting mental health through the arts.”

I just thought that they deserved something really special and really exciting – and all the children here really love Britain’s Got Talent.”
